With a round of high tides expected to grace Bali shores for the next few days, officials today issued an early warning, cautioning beach-goers to remain alert for any updates. 

“[We’ve issued] early warning on high tides around Bali, all the way to West Nusa Tenggara, which are expected to occur until July 7,” Diana Hikmah from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) told Merdeka.

The dog meat trade may have been banned in Bali since 2017, but officials yesterday said they found evidence that some vendors are still selling “RW,” as the illegal meat is referred to on the island.

Authorities suspect that a dead dolphin found washed ashore on Gianyar regency’s Saba beach on Tuesday might have perished after getting caught in fishing nets. 

“We suspect the dolphin died from being caught in fishing nets because there were remnants of nets on its mouth,” Denpasar’s Coastal and Marine Resources Management Center (BPSPL) said in a statement.

Police in Bali recently arrested Damung Kilimandu, a 34-year-old man from Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, for allegedly murdering another Sumba man last weekend during a fight that broke out among a dozen allegedly drunken men in Denpasar.

Yesterday, the Denpasar Court sentenced 23-year-old I Kadek Agus Suarnata Putra, also known as Dek Kaduk, to seven years in prison for statutory rape. 

“The defendant’s actions have ruined the future of his victim, who is underage,” Judge Adnya Dewi, who heads the panel of judges said, as quoted by Radar Bali.

Police in Bali recently arrested Siswantoro, a 36-year-old man from Jombang, East Java, for allegedly breaking into his ex-boyfriend’s house and stealing his HIV medication, which authorities said was worth millions of rupiahs.
