“The people involved have been asked for statements by the Badung Police. They have also made a written statement [promising] not to repeat [their actions] and they are required to report [to the police],” National Police spokesman Argo Yuwono said at a live press conference yesterday.

Argo identified the foreign nationals by their initials JAM, MGM, YS, and EM, and said that police investigated the incident after it became viral on social media.

Though Bali Governor Wayan Koster said earlier this week that scenes from the party were taken in March, police have confirmed that the viral party did take place on Sunday at a villa in Bali’s Badung regency. 

Chief of Badung Police, Roby Septiadi, previously said the party was attended by 15 people. None of them broke any laws exactly, but authorities said they were duly instructed to follow official advisories that are already in place, which calls on the public to refrain from social gatherings and stay at home. 

In general, both local residents and foreigners have not been adhering to social distancing advisories across Bali, with photos and videos catching the crowds finding its way to social media platforms in the past week alone. 

Bali recorded six additional cases yesterday afternoon, bringing the island’s total to 92.
