Carr was arrested in August after he fly-kicked an unsuspecting Balinese man, who has been identified as I Wayan Wirawan, off the latter’s scooter in the middle of traffic in Kuta.

Wirawan miraculously suffered only minor injuries from the incident, and Carr was soon chased by angry locals who tried to subdue him, and he was later detained by authorities.

The moment was captured in a spectacular video, which quickly became viral and sparked a multitude of reactions from netizens, both in Australia and Indonesia.

According to reports, Carr and Wirawan shook hands and embraced during a court hearing in October, where the latter said he forgave the man who kicked him. Wirawan said Carr has replaced his damaged vehicle with a new motorbike and also paid for the treatment of his injuries.

Under Indonesia’s criminal code, Carr could have faced up to two years and eight months in prison for his assault on Wirawan. Instead, he was only sentenced to four months.

In the trial, Carr said he wasn’t able to recall what he did the night of the assault, as he claimed to have drank about 20 to 30 glasses of vodka.
