A 26-year-old man has reportedly died after he was hacked to death by an underage boy following a fight that broke out among a group of allegedly drunken men at a cafe in Bali’s Badung regency on Sunday.

According to police, the incident began when the victim, who has been identified as I Kadek Roy Adinata by local media, and a friend, identified as 17-year-old Agus Gede Nurhana Putra, were drinking with some of their friends at the cafe.

They were interrupted by a group of boys and started arguing, which reportedly led to a fistfight at some point.

“The fight was put to a stop because someone intervened; the two groups then parted ways and left the cafe,” Police Commissioner Ida Bagus Putu Mertayasa, who heads the Abiansemal Police in Badung regency, told Tribun-Bali yesterday

But they didn’t stay parted for long as the groups ended up taking their fight to the streets instead, with one group reportedly getting on their motorcycles to chase the other.

At one point, the motorbike that Agus and Roy rode on was hit and two of them fell off. At that moment, a 15-year-old boy, identified as Putu BWS, hacked both Agus and Roy with a machete.

Roy died because of his injuries, while Agus is reportedly in critical condition and still being treated at Mangusada General Hospital, according to Tribun-Bali.

Mertayasa said the suspects, including another 15-year-old identified as Dewa PEAM, have been arrested, and the police are conducting an investigation.
