I Ketut Catur Marbawa from Bali’s Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) said yesterday that forecasts predict the drop in temperatures will occur for the next few weeks at least. Indeed, as showcased by Accuweather, temperatures in the area might reach as low as 8 degree celsius. 

“The temperature has lately been colder than usual. Our officers on the ground are saying the same. Climbing has been normal,” Marbawa said, as quoted by Bali Express. 

It’s good to hear that the drop in temperature hasn’t affected climbing activities of Mount Batur, though BKSDA said it will continue its observation and might close off the hiking trail temporarily, should temperatures drop to an “extreme level.” 

According to Wayan Merta from Bangli’s Tourism and Culture Agency, the colder temperature has actually attracted more visitors to the area. 

Though Bali might be a tropical island, the basic rule of the higher the altitude, the chiller it gets still pretty much applies (so no, don’t wear those shorts).
