‘I want to go home’: British ‘immigration slapper’ moved to Kerobokan prison to serve remainder of six-month prison term
Authorities today moved Auj-e Taqaddas, the British woman who notoriously slapped an immigration official at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, to a female prison in Kerobokan, where she reportedly expressed a desire to return to her home country.
“I want to go home,” Taqaddas said as she entered the facility, as quoted by Detik.
Taqaddas became an overnight viral sensation last July, when footage was released of her cursing at an immigration officer, followed by her angrily slapping him across the face. She was reportedly furious after being asked to pay a huge fine for overstaying her Indonesian visitor’s visa by 160 days.
Earlier this year, Taqaddas was sentenced to six months in prison for her assault. She became even more infamous after several documented temper tantrums following the initial slapping incident. This includes an episode after her initial arrest, where, according to Kumparan, she destroyed everything inside of the cell soon after the court sentencing, forcing officials to move her to another room with more limited facilities.
Waher Tulus Jaya Torihoran, a prosecutor on Taqaddas’ case, said that the British national has been showing a change in temperament.
“She’s changed her attitude, become more calm and less quick to throw tantrums. Even during the administrative process for this move things went smoothly,” Waher said, as quoted by Tribun-Bali.
