An extended Singaporean family of 12 were robbed while sleeping in their four-bedroom villa in Canggu on Nov. 30.

Straits Times reported that the family “had lost about S$3,000 worth of cash and items, including bags and wallets.

The surveillance footage from the premises showed someone leaping over the villa’s low perimeter wall. Additionally, the video captured a motorcycle, its headlights switched off, circling the villa multiple times during the night.

Another motorcycle was observed departing from the premises; however, it remained uncertain whether the footage portrayed the same vehicle throughout.

According to Straits Times, one family member asserted that the thief gained entry through a defective sliding door. However, the villa management reportedly said that the door was in proper working condition and highlighted that the family hadn’t secured the door that night.

An employee of the villa accompanied the family to file a report with the local police on Nov 30. The family moved out of the villa on the same day of the burglary, despite having paid for two more nights’ stay.

“The theft happened when we were in the villa, asleep,” said one family member, Redha Indra, as quoted by Straits Times. “That makes it scarier as any of our children could have been abducted, or any of us could have been hurt if (the thief) had weapons.”

The 12 family members include three children.

Redha Indra posted his horrible experience on his Facebook.

“[P]retty sure they’re not saying it’s ok. [Just] stating what led the robbery be easy & [I’m] sure hotels/law protection aside we all [should] have our own damn responsibility for our personal belongings,” X user @_1704cc_ responded.

“Mr Indra please put in the review or feedback on this hotel so that others booking this villa are warned of this incident . The management did not do enough to secure safety for their customers . This is very bad,” said @sweechabo.
