Jakarta – Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook stated that the company is exploring the possibility of constructing a manufacturing facility in Indonesia, following his meeting with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

Cook visited Indonesia and held a meeting with Jokowi at the Jakarta Merdeka Palace today, April 17. In his statement, he also called Indonesia a pivotal market for Apple.

“We talked about the president’s desire to see manufacturing in the country, and it’s something that we will look at,” Cook told reporters after the roughly hour-long meeting.

Apart from discussing investment potential, Cook also announced the opening of the Apple Developer Academy in Bali, the fourth training program for aspiring developers in Indonesia.

The tech giant first launched the program in 2018 in BSD Tangerang, near the capital city of Jakarta. The other two centers are situated in Surabaya of Central Java and Batam.

Following his meeting with Jokowi, Cook also held a meeting with Indonesia’s President-elect, Prabowo Subianto, who currently serves as the country’s Defense Minister, in Jakarta.
