About Thai-m: Bangkok-Bali flight is officially back
Low-cost airline AirAsia has officially resumed its Bangkok-Bali route yesterday, becoming the first to connect the two cities since the pandemic suspended all international flights to Bali.
Flight FD-396 from Don Mueang Airport landed at the Ngurah Rai Airport carrying 128 passengers – all of them foreigners and mostly Thai nationals.
The flight arrived at 11:53am yesterday and flew back to Bangkok at 12:56pm carrying 29 passengers, this time under the code FD-397. The return flight is now scheduled to operate every Tuesday and Saturday (it can be added in the future, depending on the airline’s reviews).
State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I president director Faik Fahmi welcomed the resumption of flights between two of the most popular tourist destinations in Southeast Asia.
“As [the two] are traveling destinations, we hope that the reconnecting of the two cities can further encourage global citizens to travel safely and comfortably, of course by following health protocols,” he said.
Thailand is the third Southeast Asian country that is officially connected with the Island of Gods, after Singapore and Malaysia. Before the pandemic, demands for flights between Thailand and Bali in particular were quite high, the airline said in their statement.
