The chairman of the Badung chapter of the Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants Association (PHRI), I Gusti Ngurah Rai Suryawijaya, said yesterday that hotels in the regency – which comprise tourist hotspots like Kuta, Seminyak, and Canggu, among others – are offering big deals during the upcoming holiday to boost the island’s hotel occupancy rate.

In addition to welcoming domestic tourists who want to vacay in Bali during the Eid holiday, he said that three-star to five-star hotels are also eyeing tourists from Southeast Asia and the 43 nationalities currently on the visa on arrival (VOA) eligibility list.

“So [travelers] can tell stories that Bali is very worth it to visit. Safe, comfortable, and [there are] special rates,” said Suryawijaya.

While he did not provide a full list of hotels offering Lebaran deals, Suryawijaya said a night at a five-star hotel is going for a rate of IDR 2.5-3 million (US$175-200). Four-star hotels are offering around IDR2 million (US$140) per night deals, while three-star hotel stays will set you back around IDR1-1.5 million (US$70-105) per night.

Furthermore, Suryawijaya said that the hotel occupancy rate during Lebaran is expected to reach 40 percent. That would be a significant increase from both 2020 and 2021, when hotel occupancy rates languished below 20 percent even during Lebaran season.

This year’s Eid holiday period, including government-mandated collective leave days (AKA cuti bersama), will fall from Apr. 29 to May 6. Eid itself is expected to fall on either May 2 or 3 this year.
